About the role
Laing O'Rourke is currently seeking a senior C# .NET developer with a minimum of 10 years commercial experience, preferably with 3+ years’ experience as a team lead. The Application Development function is in a period of significant growth and as such the team is being restructured to support this growth and align resources into two development teams. This restructure has necessitated a new Application Development Team lead to lead one of the teams, and to work collaboratively alongside the existing Application Development team lead to ensure continued alignment on development standards and practices.
This role is based in our Fortitude Valley office, though predominantly working remotely for the foreseeable future and will lead a team of Application Developers based primarily in Brisbane, but also in Sydney, as well as an off-shore resource based in Sri Lanka. As a global business with Application Development resources in both Australia and the UK, this role will need to work with its counterpart in the AU business as well as in the UK business to ensure both local and global alignment of Application Development strategy.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence and Software Development, in this position you will lead a team tasked with designing, developing, enhancing and supporting a range of new and existing solutions used across project sites as well as different functions in the business. This role is customer-facing and it is a requirement that candidates are excellent communicators and that they are confident working directly with the business. The Application Development team lead will need to be able to influence our strategic approach to Application Development.

About you
Our current technology stack includes:
- Web – ASP.NET Core, ReactJS
- Mobile – React Native & Xamarin Forms
- Database – SQL Server (using Entity Framework)
- Hosting – Azure
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a Development Team Lead working with similar technologies
- Experience developing ASP.NET MVC web sites using C# and JavaScript
- Experience with ReactJS
- Experience developing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core
- Experience working with Entity Framework, SQL Server and T-SQL
- An excellent understanding of Git, Team City, and Octopus Deploy
- Commercial experience building and deploying applications in Azure (App Services, SQL Databases, Storage Accounts, EventGrid, App Insights)
- Strong problem solving skills and a can-do attitude with an aptitude to take on any task and run with it to completion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A relevant undergraduate degree from a university
- Experience with Google Analytics, and Azure App Insights would be highly regarded
